The project at North Middlesex Hospital was carried out to the 3rd floor of the paediatric ward. Hospital operations remained live in the ground, 1st, 2nd, and 4th floors, as well as the wider surrounding hospital site.
The 3rd floor ward was stripped back to shell, with works including the removal of several internal blockwork walls. As an added obstacle to works, a number of services running through the 3rd floor fed through to live operational floors above and below, these services had to be retained and worked around during strip out works.
The safe and controlled disposal of waste from the 3rd floor via a shared access route was paramount, this was carefully planned to ensure materials could be safely removed, while working in close proximity to live operational hospital areas, staff, patients and visitors.
