Employed as principal contractor to carry out the demolition of the former Catholic Club in Woolwich. Works included the structural demolition of the existing building down to ground slab level, with works carried out over a retained basement to the footprint of the building. To enable works over the basement slab, temporary works were installed to retain the ground floor slab during demolition works, these were planned and designed by our temporary works engineer to enable demolition works to be carried out safely.
The site was heavily constrained, located on the main road through central Woolwich, while being land locked to the three other sides of the structure, with a hotel and other businesses premises to all other elevations. The works involved the installation of traffic management to the site frontage to enable the disposal of arisings, we installed a pit lane to the main carriageway, this took a great deal of planning and was pivotal to the success of the project.
