Maycroft Care Home, Royston

Services provided:

  • Service isolation
  • Vegetation clearance
  • Asbestos removal
  • Hand separation of structure from operational building
  • Demolition of structures including ground slab and foundations
  • Installation of boundary fencing

Scope of works:

The project at Maycroft Care Home consisted of the demolition of a redundant two storey wing, and its single storey link building. During works, the care home remained operational, with residents in place in buildings to the west and south of the structure to be demolished.

Initial works on the site consisted of service isolations, internal asbestos removal, and soft strip. Demolition works then commenced to separate the low-level link building by hand. Once separated, with an air gap created to operational buildings, the remainder of the single storey and two storey structures were demolished, this included the removal of the ground slabs and foundations, clearing the site in preparation for the construction of a new building for the care home.
